Activity Family Session – CT Family Photography

DSC_0437

How does an activity family session work? Its a focused session based on a planned activity of your family’s every day life. Family sessions with Sarah Cruz Photography are custom and fun to begin with, but rather playing in the yard, you may want to document a specific detail. The real stuff you would always like to remember and remind your kids of when they are older. It is a wonderful way to make everyone comfortable in front of the camera and assure participation.

Recently, I visited a family with a new baby. Every week the big sister and Dad make homemade sauce which they wanted to document. This gave mom time to feed the newborn and reset big sister’s focus while reminding her of the important role she plays in the family.

I love being a part of these sessions because more important in some ways then the photos where everyone is looking at the camera are the images that make you remember what your kitchen looked like growing up, or how tiny your little one’s fingers were. So take the opportunity to document the fun of your Connecticut family.

“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” (Laura Ingalls Wilder – author Little House on the Prairie)

More than a camera.

This is my family. With the perfect showcase of why I love capturing yours. An experienced photographer is more than just their camera and knowledge of how to use it or the settings to make a crisp lovely image. It is posing, an eye for the background and in the fail of this image the ability to get everyone involved…. I coordinated our outfits, managed to corral everyone, set up a pleasing arrangement, told the shooter where to stand… We weren’t engaged with each other or the camera. But damn, my hair looks good…

Listening to people’s ideas  is my inner confetti.  This group had a ton! A family session turned into a ‘you know what would be fun…’ Seems Mom runs www.morselsparties.com  The result is fresh squeezed adorable! She even had coordinated straws people!! So happy my bribe bubbles were yellow!!  Oh and the love between the sisters was pretty quenching too.  Check out Jill’s site or Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/Morselspartyplanning  and ring me up too!  You’ll be sure to see more of these doll faces soon.

Party of Five – Connecticut Family Photography

Outside again – finally! With a bit of a chill in the air, the playfulness of this family warmed everything especially the playground.  Twin energetic yet curious boys turning 3 and a big sister with the most gorgeously soft real smile that may just overshadow the mischief in her eyes. A detail Dad with a quiet manner and an on top of it while so patient mom that is a soft place to fall. Their tender connection to each other and quickness to laugh was so inspiring and fun! Been thinking so much lately about focus and how it really is important to capture your family in the realness. Feeling so incredible lucky to do what I do. Feast your eyes on some of the sweetest moments.

Maternity into newborn – CT Family Photographer

Wanting to mark her last pregnancy with maternity pictures, Kerrin didn’t want something that wasn’t her.  We agreed that the simpleness of every day can be so beautiful.

PhotoShop – What makes you beautiful?

Image

Glanced at this photo on a photography group this morning, smiled and started to scroll away. Then paused with the thought I barely know PhotoShop and I’ve shot weddings, families, HS seniors, babies, and models. This though was a realization that the thought is PS = perfection and you need to be ‘fixed’ to be beautiful. The reality is that is why you want an experienced photographer. Through posing, direction, lighting, clothing choices, emotion and experience, a good photographer can bring out your beauty/perfection right through the lens. My camera doesn’t make you look good or cry when you see the final image, my experience and passion do. So Photoshop, you ain’t got anything on me.  My final images are always edited by me, typically through a different Adobe program that brings out light, removes blemishes and lets me change a crop.  I’ve done the work to bring out your best. It’s not a program, it’s not my camera, it’s you and me interacting or witnessing your moments.
